About...
MattariVita
The Japanese word “Mattari” comes from the gastronomic vocabulary of the Kansai area. It is used to describe “light food, but with a very genuine and profound taste”.
Such a word does not merely describe the taste in itself, but how tastes and flavors spread slowly inside the mouth. Progressively, “Mattari” has become a term used in the Japanese language to describe an emotional state of freedom and absence of worries. Japanese people generally take great care of their day-off, during the week. They meet friends, attend popular performances, go to the cinema, or simply relax on the couch at home. Being relaxed and lying down is also expressed, in the Japanese slang, with the word: “Mattari”.
In order to single out a meaningful name for our project, we decided to combine the abbreviation “Matt” (by Mattia) and the abbreviation “Ari” (by Arisa – Alissa written in Japanese), to obtain the term “Mattari”.
It mirrors how we want to organize our activities and life, which need to be healthy and relaxed.
Something to live fully and deeply, recreating the feeling of “Mattari”.

Mattia Cornella
I was born on the mountains, in the Dolomites Region, and I always had a strong passion for this environment. However, deep inside, I do love the sea. After various life and work experiences – some positive and others less so – I met the shiatsu practice in the early 2000s. I received a shiatsu treatment from a therapist, who used to practice in my village. Such an experience was able to awaken, in me, a latent curiosity towards the world of massages. After receiving shiatsu, I felt really better.
I asked Gabriele, the therapist, if performing such a practice was only for few selected and special people.
That was not the case, so I started studying Iokai shiatsu with him. I was passionate about shiatsu and I slowly started to get in touch with myself, developing a better knowledge of my body.
I was told “the only way is practice: the more you practice, the more you can understand what the patient really needs”. So, I started practicing as much as possible. I never had enough and I tried to do everything possible to always create new opportunities of practice. From then onwards, I understood that, if we do something that we really like in life, “work” does not exist as obligation and effort. It becomes a vibrant and positive part of life itself. My life was definitely changed.
Before starting the practice of shiatsu, I owned and managed a bar in Arco di Trento, close to the Garda Lake. A moment later, I was practicing – often with Gabriele, the person who introduced me to shiatsu – in various events across Europe. One day Gabriele told me: “If you want to continue with me, you have to follow my teacher Kazunori Sasaki Sensei, in France. I was puzzled. Things were very good and I was asked to drop everything to go to France. I thought about it for a while and then moved to France to know Sensei. I was in the center of France, the only Italian in the middle of a group of French people. Moreover, I was late. The next day, Sensei came to talk to me. I was excited, but he told me: “you were late last night, as far as I am concerned, you’re out!”. I was shocked. The teachers of the Iokai France association persuaded Sensei to keep me in.
Since that day, years have passed and I have gained Sensei’s trust and esteem.
I studied with him and he trained me to teach the Kata Iokai Meridian Shiatsu course.
In the group, I met a beautiful Japanese girl.
Her name is Alissa and she has become my wife.
Now my life is really changed.

Since I was a child, I have always designed things and devoted myself to art.
I learned a fashion design in the university of Art in Kyoto.
I then worked 5 years, creating clothes and costumes for dance and theater performances in Japan.
At the age of 26, I started dancing. I followed some of the greatest masters of the Buto dance, such as Masami Yurabe in Kyoto and Akira Kasai in Tokyo. At the same time, I started practicing Shiatsu, Yoga and Shintaido with Masaaki Koutani. I moved to France at the age of 31, where I worked as a professional dancer for 7 years.
For love, in 2015, I moved to Italy, where I continue to live today. Since then, my life has changed.
I started doing natural agriculture, a dream I had for many years before. I graduated in IOKAI Méridian Shiatsu. I’m passionate about yoga Iyengar for many years. Today, I teach several meridian stretching courses and I propose sensory experiences for the the body in contact with nature. I remain strongly passionate about Japanese folk dance and have organized several philanthropic events in France, Congo and Italy to raise funds for the children of Fukushima after the 2011 TOHOKU disaster.

Bon Odori - Japanese Folklore Danse
Saturday 8th of July 2023, at Trento Tanabata Festival

Originally, this Japanese dance was born as a celebration for the return of the dead souls on earth.
In many Japanese villages, people dance during the summer.
We used to go to dance at Gujo Hachiman, Shirotri, Itoshiro, 3 mountain villages located in the Gifu prefecture. The songs and dances are very different from village to village.
Everyone dances during the summer months in Japan, young and old people: for three days, in the mid-August period, people dance all night, since 1600 in Gujo.
Nobody teaches you how to dance. So, we just entered the circle, looked around and repeated many times the choreography of other dancers. The dance slowly started to enter our bodies and we found ourselves in an almost meditative state.
In this occasion, there will be a fundraising event.
All the money collected will be entirely donated to the Fukushima Children’s Hospital for the victims of the tragic 2011 earthquake.
COME AND LET’S DANCE ALL TOGETHER !!!

Shiatsu
IOKAI MERIDIAN SHIATSU
Shi means “fingers” and atsu means “pressure”
In the IOKAI Shiatsu the balanced combination of stretching and pressures is carried out along energy paths (meridians) in order to free, stimulate and harmonize the flow of ki (vital energy).
Deep relaxation harmonizes the body and the psyche, stimulating the capacity for self-healing.
Iokai Shiatsu is based on the principles of century-old Eastern medicine. According to these principles, body and mind are one in constant mutual interaction, as well as in relation to the world in which we live. By looking at illness, life and people in relation to their surroundings, we get a deeper view of the real causes of our problems. The approach is therefore not only symptomatic, but aims to get to the heart of the patient’s problem.

Stretching
Feeling the body…
The course is inspired by our experiences in various disciplines including:
– Do – In
– Meridian stretching
– Dance stretching
– Yoga
Everyone can experience how the movements and exercises proposed are satisfying and joyful on a deep level. The course is suitable for those who want to see clear signs of progress in terms of increased agility, elasticity and flexibility.
Open to all those who want greater awareness and better circulation for a healthy life
Courses: in Events program.

Perception Walking
During a quiet walk in the wood or around the village, keeping your eyes closed, you will develop a strong relationship with the environment around you.
Such a relationship is developed by the partecipant and by her/his guide through some very simple activities : Walking, listening, feeling, touching.
We will discover together, and in a new way, sensation that are often difficult to experience during our chaotic daily life.
An object, a sound, a flavour, a smell or even a body movement can so become a sensorial experience in touch with nature.
You will be able to deeply awake your senses and feel the magic of nature and relaxation.
Courses: in Events program.

Agriculture
Healthy life……
Our life depends on our activities: how we breathe, how we eat, how we think, how we move.
We are also in contact with other things that exist in the Universe. These elements make us alive.
Therefore, our body is always connected with the energy of the Universe.
Our passion, in the everyday life, is to cultivating vegetables.
In one part of our garden, we practice agriculture in a traditional Italian way, without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. In the other part, we perform Japanese natural farming with the KAWAGUCHI method. In this part, we intervene as little as possible and let nature express itself at its best.
Observing how vegetables grow from our seeds, is very interesting. Every vegetable needs the right balance in order to grow well. When the tractor plows the land, we do not realize that, by doing so, we kill insects. When, on the other hand, we do it using our hands to remove the superficial part of the earth (herbs and roots), we can fully understand that we disturb insects and little animals living in the land. When we perceive such feelings, we appreciate the land because it grants us the possibility of growing vegetables. Every day, we are grateful for the vegetables that we grow and, in the moment we eat them, we take their essence.
In Japan, people believe that, every time they eat something, the KI (vital energy) is derived from what they are eating. In our opinion, both the ways we embraced to cultivate our vegetables are important and meaningful. Cultivating the land enriches us every day, because we feel that the body needs to balance itself with the energy of the universe.
